A wildfire in northern New Jersey that has been burning since at least 8 a.m. has now spread to 100 acres but is 50% contained, fire officials said Saturday night.
Referred to as the “Cannonball 2 Wildfire,” the fire in Pompton Lakes is currently 100 acres in size and firefighters are making progress in containing it, the state Forest Fire Service said in a Twitter post.
The fire is burning off Cannonball Road on Ramapo Mountain State Forest and DuPont property in the Passaic County town, officials said.
