Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator behind Elden Ring, has praised his staff at FromSoftware for their work during the game’s development cycle, as well as revealing his anxiety surrounding the launch of the fantasy-RPG title late last month.

Speaking with the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Miyazaki-san revealed that the launch window is never a pleasant time for him, and Elden Ring was no exception to this.

It’s the same for all past titles, not just this one, but it’s not a very pleasant time. I’m sure I’m relieved, but I’m more anxious about it. I never get used to it.

He heaped praise on his “excellent staff” during the game’s production and the fact they were able to “leave (him to it).”

“It was expected from the beginning that this work would be the largest scale ever.”

Elsewhere, Miyazaki also touched base on George R.R. Martin’s involvement in Elden Ring, the Game of Thrones author who helped design the lore and world.

Martin’s lore has existed since the very early stages of development and has given us various inspirations. The lore depicts a complex and interesting relationship between mystery and the player, and gives us a multi-layered depth that we can call history.
