There’s no business like show business, but the truth is that many stars do like to have a side hustle. Being an entrepreneur is certainly not for everyone, but many celebs took on the challenge and have started their own businesses, and most of them are completely unrelated to their professional careers. Take Rihanna, for example, who has both her own clothing line and cosmetics brand. And we all know stars like Kylie Jenner owe their fortunes to beauty brands. In 2019, Ryan Reynolds purchased an ownership stake in the mobile network provider Mint Mobile. He owns around 25% of the company and works in a creative role as the spokesperson. It was recently announced that Mint Mobile has been acquired by T-Mobile in a deal worth US$1.35 billion. Reynolds announced that he will carry on in his role as spokesperson, and wrote on Twitter, “I never dreamt I’d own a wireless company and I certainly never dreamt I’d sell it to T-Mobile. Life is strange and I’m incredibly proud and grateful.” Reynolds has acknowledged in the past that his decision to invest in telecommunications was a bit unconventional. “Celebrities generally invest in high-end products like skincare brands or delicious gin companies,” he said, nodding to his co-ownership of Aviation Gin. Regardless of how unconventional the choice was, it certainly turned out to be a profitable one! Want to find out which other celebs have exceptional business sense?
