Fansly, a site that hosts work from content creators in a similar way to OnlyFans, claims it has been receiving 4,000 applications per hour.

On their Twitter account, Fansly posted an update to those waiting for their account, writing: “We have all hands on deck working on verifying creators as we’re receiving 4000 applications an hour now.

“Back log of applications is about a day currently and support tickets is even longer. Expanding our team to handle the volume is our #1 priority now. Please bare [sic] with us.”

If you’ve never heard of Fansly, the service is described as a ‘free and paid social network’ where content creators can interact with fans, sell content to them, and users can sign up to for either paid or free services from creators.

Anyway, despite the fact they’re now claiming to see higher demand than ever – high enough to crash their servers and prompt them to hire new staff – the forthcoming removal of sexually explicit content from OnlyFans isn’t something they’re relishing.

In a tweet from 19 August, the company wrote: “Honestly hoping the OnlyFans news isn’t true, creators losing their income and subscriber base with less than a 2 month notice sucks.

“We want to grow because our site is more feature rich, more secure, and has better support not because creators are forced to use it.”

The news that OnlyFans was banning such content came will have come as a massive shock and disappointment to many creators on the platform that depend on it for a living.

The ban comes into effect on 1 October, meaning that those who rely on the income provided by the site have just over a month to figure something else out.

A spokesperson for OnlyFans told LADbible: “OnlyFans will prohibit the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct.

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.”

LADbible has also contacted Fansly for a comment.
