Level 3 evacuation orders have been issued for homes off South Lakeshore Road above Lake Chelan that are threatened by a 300-acre fire.
The U.S. Forest Service says numerous fire agencies and air resources have responded to the fire as it continues to quickly grow south of the lake. More crews are en route, the Forest Service said.
The Level 3 – get out now – evacuation notices are for Shady Pass Road down to South Lakeshore Road as well as north of 17205 South Lakeshore Road.
Called the Twenty-Five Mile Fire, it has sent up a huge plume of smoke that can be seen from miles away.
Roads that have been closed are Shady Pass Road, South Lakeshore Road at 17205 and north all roads off of those closures.
