Cruz Brothers, a fighting game from developer DCF Studios that’s also a quick completion, has now broken the 5,000 Gamerscore mark, something that was previously thought to be reserved mostly for first-party Xbox games.
A free title update released yesterday added another 1,000G to the quick and easy completion, Cruz Brothers, bringing the game’s total Gamerscore up to a whopping 6,000G. This is something of a unique situation as it was previously thought that Microsoft limited developers to just 5,000 Gamerscore in a game.
Cruz Brothers updated to 6,000 Gamerscore
Of course, we have seen other games break through the 5,000G mark before. A couple of Xbox Game Studios have broken the mark with their own games – 343 Industries’ Halo: The Master Chief Collection has a total of 7,000G and The Elder Scrolls Online 5,920G. However, for a third-party game to burst through the limit set by Microsoft is even rarer, with just one game getting the bumper Gamerscore treatment: the now-delisted Train Sim World 2.
Now with Cruz Brothers sitting at 6,000 Gamerscore, it appears that Microsoft may have relaxed the 5,000G limit. This will likely open up the floodgates for other easy game publishers, such as Xitilon and DillyFrameGames, to add even more Gamerscore to their titles with free title updates.
After reaching out to developer DCF Studios to find out more, creative director Andre Amorim told us the team assumed that 5,000G was the maximum amount of Gamerscore a game could have but decided to test that theory. DCF created the update, and it went off to Microsoft, who apparently approved the update without issue. Since the update had gained approval from Microsoft, DCF went ahead and released the update, bringing Cruz Brothers up to 6,000G.
Amorim went on to say that when adding a title update to DCF’s games, the team is always looking to add something meaningful to the game before achievements are considered. Title Update 5 for Cruz Brothers will ask players to explore more of the fighters in the game and some key features such as ‘Breakers.’ Amorim says that DCF Studios tries to improve the gameplay experience for all players who are interested in its games with updates such as this.
According to estimates, Cruz Brothers’ base achievement list takes around six hours to complete, with the game’s five free title updates taking less than 30 minutes each. Cruz Brothers sits with a TA community rating of 2.16/5.
