Freezing rain and snow possible Saturday

High temperature will be around 34 degrees; a light drizzle may turn into snow in some areas.

FIRST ALERT IMPACT TODAY, BUT IT IS A COMPLICATED ONE. KATIE: NOT AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IMPACT DAY. SOME WILL BE MUCH MORE IMPACTED THAN OTHERS. WE WILL ALL EXPERIENCE THE BLUSTERY NORTHEAST WIND ALL DAY LONG, SO MUCH COLDER THAN WHEN WE WERE IN THE 50’S. TODAY IT IS GOING TO FEEL LIKE IT IS IN THE 20’S CAN EVEN THOUGH THE AIR TEMPERATURE WILL MAKE IT TO THE MIDDLE 30’S. IT WILL BE SO BLUSTERY, WINDS WHIPPING AROUND THIS AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IN EASTERN OKLAHOMA TODAY. THAT IS WHY IT IS A NORTHEAST WIND AND IT WILL BE GETTING UP TO 25 MILES AN HOUR. THE WINDS WILL DIE DOWN ONCE THE LOW MOVES BY AND HIGH PRESSURE MOVES IN. DEFINITELY BLUSTERY THIS MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. FUTURESCAN SHOWS WE WILL HAVE PRECIPITATION CONTINUING TO WORK UP FROM THE SOUTH. I KNOW THERE IS PRECIPITATION ON RADAR RIGHT NOW, BUT THE AIR IS SO DRY BELOW THE CLOUDS THAT MOST OF THAT IS EVAPORATING BEFORE REACHING THE GROUND. AS WE WORK TO SATURATE THE ATMOSPHERE, EVENTUALLY WE WILL GET SOME LIGHT RAIN OR MAYBE EVEN JUST DRIZZLE, BENDING ON HOW MUCH OF THAT MOISTURE IS LOST TO THE PROCESS OF SATURATING THE ATMOSPHERE. NOTICE THIS IS ALMOST 2:00 THIS AFTERNOON, THIS IS SOUTH OF THE METRO, AND THEN IT MOVED SEIZED. THE METRO MIGHT MISS OUT ON THIS COMPLETELY, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MIST. MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION LOOKS TO BE STAYING SOUTH AND THEN EAST OF KANSAS CITY. IT WILL CHANGE OVER TO SNOW AS IT IS MOVING AWAY. IT DOESN’T HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO ACCUMULATE. THE ACCUMULATING SNOW IS APPARENTLY FARTHER TO THE EAST OF KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN. ODESSA, WARRENSBURG, MAYBE LEE’S SUMMIT, BLUE SPRINGS, OAK GROVE, LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS. WE ARE LOOKING AT ADJUSTING TO MAYBE HALF AN INCH WITHIN OUR VIEWING AREA. ALSO PARTS OF OUR VIEWING AREA WILL HAVE THE POSSIBILITY OF SEEING SOME FREEZING DRIZZLE INDICATED IN SHADES OF PINK. THAT IS MOSTLY SOUTH OF I-70. IT LOOKS TO BE VERY LIGHT. THERE COULD BE JUST ENOUGH AS I LOOK DOWN ON 49 TOWARDS BUTLER WHERE YOU COULD GET LIGHT GLAZING, ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. ANYTHING THAT IS ELEVATED AND THE WIND COULD CREATE COLDER CONDITIONS FOR THAT SURFACE. I KNOW THE PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES ARE ABOVE FREEZING. AS THE DAY GOES ON, SOME OF THE BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES MAY DROP TO FREEZING OR BELOW. WE ARE A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THAT CREATING SOME SLICK SPOTS. IN YOUR FORECAST HOUR-BY-HOUR, YOU CAN SEE WE DO HAVE THE IMPACTS, ALTHOUGH THE CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION, NOTICE IT IS NOT 100%. NOT EVERYBODY HAS A 100% GUARANTEED SEEING PRECIPITATION. THOSE THAT DO WILL SEE A WIDE RANGE FROM DRIZZLE, FREEZING DRIZZLE, TO THE LIGHT SNOW. AIR TEMPERATURES WILL BE ONLY IN THE 30’S. OUR WIND CHILL VALUES WILL STAY IN THE 20’S THIS AFTERNOON. NEARLY ONE OF THOSE GREAT DAYS TO INVITE PEOPLE OVER TO WATCH THE GAME AND MAKE A BIG BOWL OF CHILI OR WARM STEW AND ENJOY SOMETHING WARM TO EAT. TOMORROW WILL BE CALMER AND 42. THEN WE SPENT THREE DAYS IN THE 50’S. ANOTHER CHANCE OF RAIN ON THURSD
