California is facing harsh harsh weather as you read this, with freezing temperatures and storms doing the rounds in the region. Areas, such as Lake Tahoe, have been covered with many inches of snow, while others have frozen over entirely.
As per the reports, Lake Tahoe’s iconic Emerald Bay, which is located around 12 miles north of South Lake Tahoe, recently turned into a sheet of ice entirely. Reportedly, it’s a rare occurrence, as it hasn’t frozen over for more than 30 years. The last event was dated back to 1993 as per an official in the know-how.
Partially freezing of the Emerald Bay isn’t unusual, however, it has completely frozen this time. If we go by the records of the National Weather Service, below-freezing temperatures and a chill wind hit the Emerald Bay area last week.
The icy condition of Emerald Bay is only the tip of a much bigger iceberg that is currently affecting California. The National Weather Service also extended its storm warning due to severe weather in the Greater Lake Tahoe Area.
The Lake Tahoe area has been affected with huge amounts of snow and rain, thereby causing problems for both residents and businesses, among others. As per the warning, the heaviest snow downpour is yet to come, although some areas have already witnessed huge snowfall.
So those planning to travel to the area should be aware that it won’t likely be a seamless experience.
