The Mora County Sheriff’s Office has closed Highway 434 at mile marker 2 due to a fire in the area. The sheriff’s office says north and southbound traffic are closed until further notice as crews are on scene of the fire. The National Weather Service Office in Albuquerque says NOAA satellites were able to detect the fire on the eastern fringe of the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire burn scar. The National Weather Service says the fire is estimated to be 5 to 10 acres. Winds in the area are gusting between 40 and 50 miles per hour. No further information was available.
