To commemorate 25th National Technology Day, Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam conducted a workshop on “Use of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and Emerging technologies in Ship Repairs and Construction” on 11 May 2023. A total of 350 personnel from various Naval units, OEMs and four Shipyards participated in workshop, apart from scientists from IGCAR Kalpakkam and BARC. The workshop touched upon aspects related to NDT and Emerging Technologies and its usage for warships during refits. Technologies such as use of AI in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) /Radiographic Testing (RT), Drone survey of structures, NDT techniques for Residual Life Assessment of Gas Turbines and Boilers were also deliberated upon. Speakers were felicitated by Admiral Superintendent, Rear Admiral Sanjay Sadhu, who urged all stakeholders to assimilate and implement takeaways of workshop in field of warship repairs and construction.
