Officers are investigating an early morning shooting, according to the Asheville Police Department. Police say that the shooting happened on News Year’s Eve around 2 a.m. on New Leicester Highway.When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound and applied a tourniquet to his leg before EMS came, according to police.Police say that the man was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment with non-life threating injuries.Detectives with APD ask anyone with information about this incident to send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or contacting them at (828) 252-1110.
