The Blue Lakes Fire in Montmorency and Cheboygan counties now measures at 2,710 acres, and state officials say the blaze is about 60% contained as of Sunday, May 15.
The growth in acreage covered by the fire from Saturday’s estimate of 2,300 acres is largely due to a more accurate GPS measurement of the area, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
