NVIDIA to release DLSS 3 Unreal Engine 5.2 plugin soon

NVIDIA promises DLSS 3 plugins for game developers

NVIDIA revealed its plans to release a Frame Generation plugin for game developers that would like to implement this technology into their software. It will be available through “NVIDIA Streamline”, which is a cross vendor and open-source framework for integration of such technologies.

Alternatively, developers will be provided access to the Unreal Engine 5.2 DLSS3 plugin, which will be released ‘very soon’. This means that the DLSS3 plugin will arrive more than 2 years since the DLSS2 UE plugin was released.

With the DLSS 3 Frame Generation plugin becoming publicly available at GDC for developers, and a DLSS 3 plugin coming soon for Unreal Engine 5.2, it will be even easier for developers to enhance the next generation of games. [..]

DLSS Frame Generation will be available to access via NVIDIA Streamline, an open-source, cross-vendor framework that simplifies the integration of super resolution technologies in 3D games and apps.

The company announced that DLSS3 adoption is seven times faster than DLSS in the first 6 months since the introduction of the technology. Additionally, NVIDIA today confirms another batch of games that will support DLSS3 with its Frame Generation technology. In March NVIDIA expects DLSS3 in 7 new games, including Diablo IV, Forza Horizon 5, The Finals and Redfall, the latter is now confirmed as part of the latest RTX 40 game bundle.

As a reminder, NVIDIA does not release the full source code for their upscaling technology (unlike AMD with FSR). This means that the plugins only contain DLL libraries that cannot be modified in any way. Regardless of what will be included into the plugin, Unreal Engine developers will now gain access to three options: FSR2, XeSS or DLSS3 technologies, which can be added separately or together and provide more options to end users.
