GEORGIA — North Georgians should expect to see strong to severe storms Monday afternoon and overnight into Tuesday, with a tornado being possible.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued by the National Weather Service for much of north and central Georgia, as scattered thunderstorms are expected on Monday.
Storms will begin in northwest Georgia late Monday morning and move southeast through the afternoon and night. Some isolated storms that are strong to severe will be possible during the afternoon and night, mainly over north and west Georgia.
Expect damaging wind gusts, and a brief tornado cannot be ruled out, according to the NWS. Stronger storms will also likely produce heavy rainfall.
Rain and thunderstorms continue to be possible across north and central Georgia from Tuesday through Friday.
AccuWeather said severe weather is forecast to bring damaging winds and flash flooding to many states from Mississippi and Alabama to New Jersey and New York on Monday.
The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center stating that more than 47 million are facing a slight risk of severe storms. This area includes Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Nashville, Tennessee, and Atlanta, AccuWeather said.
“Thunderstorms will be capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and localized flash flooding, with an AccuWeather Local StormMax of 70 mph,” said meteorologist Hunter Greene.
