CASPER, Wyo — Authorities in Summit Valley, Utah, say the Parleys Canyon fire east of Salt Lake City is growing rapidly, leading to the mandatory evacuation of an estimated 6000-8000 homes.
The fire has grown to approximately 2500-3000 acres Saturday evening, Utah Fire Info said. The Pinebrook, Summit Park, Lambs Canyon, and Mill Creek neighborhoods are under evacuation orders and a Red Cross Shelter has been established at the Park City High School.
Closures on Interstate 80 were causing significant delays Saturday, though the road has been reopened with lane restrictions in both directions as of 6:40 pm. Caution is when traveling through the area.
