Severe Weather Threat: Tornado watches issued across Coastal Georgia, Lowcountry
The morning will be dry, but showers and thunderstorms are likely after 12 p.m.
there’s *** tornado watch that is in effect back to that radar which will show you there in Pierce County. And that’s where we’re seeing that *** possibility of *** tornado there is rotation that we’re seeing on radar with that and there we go back to that radar there, victoria kind of zoom it back down for me there there in Pierce County, this is Blackshear right here, zoom in *** little more of the spots that were watching this tornado warning goes until 1 30. So we’ll be tracking this as his move into potentially maybe appling County and also maybe into western parts of Wayne County. Here’s bristol right here. So between bristol and Blackshear right in here, the National Weather Service said possibility of wind gusts of 70 and 80 MPH is possible with this. So that is *** very damaging definitely causing *** lot of problems. Remember if you hear if you’re under this tornado warning, if this is in your path, you definitely want to take cover immediately center part of your house away from all windows definitely have *** sturdy structure to get into find that safe place. And when you’re away from your tv. Remember W J C L dot com? You still be able to watch us. Also downloaded W. J. Sell 22 news app, you’ll be able to continue to watch this as well as it’s moving up towards bristol if you live in the bristol area. This is the spot we are watching also. This holds together and we’ve been watching this. This is all the way down in where county it has been holding together and has been moving through those spots here, racing off to the north and northeast around 40 and 45 MPH. That’s what most of those storms have been doing with this have been moving very quickly through the area. So right there, there’s bristol. Black shares were watching and move through Dixie Union have not seen any severe weather reports out of that, but we are tracking that continue to zoom in on this area right here around bristol there and you can see the roads that we are talking about here is *** highway 32 that goes right through bristol and patterson as well. So those areas from patterson to bristol along highway 21 all the way down just north of black shirts. So right around bristol there on highway 21 definitely wanna take cover if you live in those areas and you are watching us and this will continue moving up into parts of Wayne County as well as it’s moving off to the north and east until 1 30 this afternoon. This tornado warning that is in effect for those spots. So this is moving to the north and east. So take cover immediately there in parts of *** pierce County. If you live in Bacon County. This is just off to your south, just on the here’s the state line or whether the county line right here is the Bacon and the pierce County line. you can see most of it is in pierce County there around bristol Patterson there along the state route 1 21 as it’s moving up to the north and east. This is the only severe warning that we have in our area is this tornado warning. Also there’s *** severe thunderstorm warning that covers the same area up into Appling County and also into Wayne County as well. Right on the Wayne County line is where we’re seeing where the severe thunderstorm warning is ending. This is *** live look what we’re watching here. Um, this is in Blackshear right here, so you can see it is definitely some wet roadways out there. So just north of Blackshear is where we are seeing this severe thunderstorm capable of producing *** tornado definitely *** broad area of rotation with this. So right in this area near bristol, north of Blackshear Patterson is located right in this area. That’s the spots that we’re watching this and beginning to move closer to parts of extreme southern parts of Appling County and also extreme western parts of Wayne County. Here’s jessup right here. So you can see kind of giving an indication if you do live in Wayne County take cover also, this is headed your way, one of the biggest threats with this definitely will be this really strong gusty winds and the severe reports that are coming out from the weather service is saying this could produce potentially maybe winds gusts over 70 MPH. So you see it moving off to the north and northeast very rapidly there with this tornado warning that is in effect until 1 30 so zooming back out *** little bit more with this. And if you’re wondering this one sale here, you can see how it’s very nearing right there along the Wayne County, this is Bacon County and also Pierce County appling County right here, it’s gonna kind of split right along those counties. But if you live up to the north, you live in Chatham County down to Hinesville Liberty Long County. The threat for severe weather for you folks does look to be over with for you. So the counties will be watching at least as we go from now, maybe up to about three o’clock will be Pierce county Wayne County and it just continues to hold together. It has held together over the last about almost 45 minutes as it was moving through Ware County, this will continue lifting to the north up near jessup. So this is kind of taking *** beeline right toward the jessup area there in Wayne County. So tornado warning that is in effect until 1 30 this afternoon for Pierce County. We may see this would not be surprised to see this extended even further to the north up into parts of maybe Ware County over the next maybe 15 20 minutes. So something we’ll be watching closely and once this moves through, we will see conditions improving behind this very quickly. But you get those winds gusting up to over 50 and 60 MPH could easily bring some trees power lines down. That would be one of the biggest threats out of this. So Pierce County right here, here’s Blackshear. This is lifting up into parts of Wayne County as well and any severe weather reports from that victoria. We haven’t had any reports yet. It’s still moving northeast at 60 MPH. Okay, That’s moving very quickly and it’s like me and victoria were just talking about the weather service’s Patel maybe winds gusting with this over 70 MPH. This is potentially very damaging for the folks there from patterson to bristol and zooming in more on this area. Even up into say, as you go into *** parts of *** Wayne county as well. That’s the other spot that we are watching is right here, here’s *** Wayne County line. This is the pierce county line right here. So zooming on this area. You can see this is *** live look, this is in black share, You can see the rain is coming down very heavily there with some guy here’s Blackshear here. So you can see that line even kind of bowling out *** little bit as it’s moving through. Blackshear easily seeing winds gusts over 40 MPH for that moving through black share their and the southern parts of Pierce County. But we’re watching is more of *** northern parts Pierce County and you can see that *** severe thunderstorm morning now has been extended over into Wayne County. Now this is including jessup from jessup all the way down to the southern parts of the county is under *** severe thunderstorm warning And right now stills that tornado warning that is in effect until 1.30. This is for Pierce County and it’s looking *** little like this rotation is still pronounced but not as pronounced as it was when it was moving through Ware County and also as it started moving into Pierce County. But you can see how it’s kind of wrapping around *** little bit. This is the area zooming on that area right there, just north of *** black sheer just north of Blackshear there there we go, here’s bristol right here. So these are the spots were watching. So bristol was definitely under the gun, maybe seeing winds gusts right now. Well over *** 50 MPH potentially. This is headed up towards parts of Scriven. Also in jessup there in southern parts of Wayne County where there’s *** severe thunderstorm warning that is in effect. So we’ll probably see this continue. They could potentially maybe extend this tornado warning *** little bit further is now it’s almost near right near the Wayne County and Pierce County line. There’s this moving across very close to bristol now. So that’s the one spot we’re watching. If you live, if you’re wonder if you live in chat county in the low country is looking like the severe threat for you folks is over with. The initial line of rain has moved off the coast. Just has some steady rain there. You can see it moving through savannah also, Richmond Hill in Hinesville as well. Something some of these cells are trying to inch up toward places like the Liberty and also Long County. What the watches this hold together hopefully what’s happening is this rain moves in more steady rain, makes the atmosphere *** little more stable. So the counties where we’ll be watching pierce County also for *** Bacon County, over to Wayne county, maybe even over to McIntosh county and this continues to hold together maybe even southern parts of Long County as well. Back to that tornado warning there, you see *** lot of lightning strikes and that’s typically the case. Do you get these cells that pop up been watching them all morning long? We did have one tornado warning earlier for parts of *** Hampton county and that cell has moved well to our north, but the one we’re watch has moved across the panhandle of florida earlier this morning and you see now it kind of stayed together and being started having some rotation as it was nearing ware county, but nails up through bristol still seeing *** broad area of rotation with, this is kind of hooking around just *** little bit. This is more like it’s kind of bowing out as it’s nearing southern parts of Wayne County. So that’s why they issued that severe thunderstorm warning there from jessup southward all the way down in to southern parts of Wayne County. So here we are still continue to watch that tornado warning that is in effect for Pierce County until 1 30 this afternoon. So we got about *** little more than about 15 minutes of that watching that warning there and victoria, we have no more tornado tornado warning there for 1 30. How about the severe thunderstorm warning? How long does that go for? The severe thunderstorm warning goes until 1 45 and it says winds could be over about 60 MPH with small hill and the in Wayne County. Gotcha. So the Pearson Wayne County. So those are the two counties were watching with that tornado warning that is in effect in the Paterson, it’s looking like it’s Neil lifted to the north and east of you folks. And remember *** tornado warning that this has been Doppler radar indicated with this, Find your safe place the center part of your house away from all windows. We always talk about this kind of stress this. You want to get away from those windows where those winds the weather service said earlier, it could be gusting well over 50 and 60 MPH for this one cell here is beginning to move across bristol now beginning to move up into Wayne County is still see that little bit of *** bowing out there that’s headed into parts of the southern Wayne County, south and west of jessup are the areas that we’re watching there. So this is *** live look once again, this is that you’re seeing here on the other side of your tv that is in Blackshear where the heaviest of the rain now has move through Blackshear. You can see it’s how it’s kind of lifted up and did have some gusty winds that roll through Blackshear over about the last 20 and 25 minutes and once again bristol, there you go. Those storms are moving up into your area and watch out in Wayne County, southern parts of Wayne County and the western parts of the county, right there along the appling and Wayne and Pierce County line. Those are the spots will be watching with this is that tornado warning is still in effect until 1 30 this afternoon. And so one thing, let’s zoom in on this area. They’re right there in those counties come together, you can see there so patterns send us the area we were watching earlier. So highway 32 from bristol as you head northward up into appling County. Those are the spots that are seeing some really strong gusty winds and also highway 84 coming out of Pierce County into Wayne County also as well. That’s where we’re seeing those chance for maybe some really strong gusty winds and kind of see that tornado the warning is they may take it back up *** little bit further right now. This is just definitely *** big broad area of rotation that we are seeing here on radar. Also there on highway 203 there in Wayne County that’s leading up into jessup. *** lot of folks I know you live in jessup that you’re watching this, they’re in Wayne County, notice how this is tracking your way and it’s moving in very soon within about the next 10 minutes. So by one, about 1 21 just after 1 20 you’ll be seeing some heavy rain, gusty winds and even some of those thunderstorms rolling through parts of Wayne County and they’re Pierce County bristol over into right around the near the appling county line, the Wayne County line. That’s where we’re seeing that strongest of the gusty winds with that tornado warning that is in effect until 1 30. Also, we had that severe thunderstorm warning that is also including the exact same area and also extended to the north and east of that up into Wayne County as well. They’re from jessup back out with this zooming out showing the other than this one cell here watching some of these even south and east of blacks here. Some of these cells are holding together. These will continue to wrap around headed up to maybe into McIntosh County. So this could head all the way to the coast. The county’s really believe that we’ll see the greatest threat for severe weather as we go through the rest of the afternoon up to about maybe about three o’clock will be pierce county appling wayne and also McIntosh County and could even see this that holds together up into Long County. But potentially as this area is moving into areas that already received rain this afternoon, you may see this begin to weaken *** little bit once it moves up north of Jessa. But that severe thunderstorm warning does extend all the way right up toward McIntosh county line and also the long county line. This is including Jessa all the way down to or just after the east Blackshear. And one thing that’s happening with this, definitely seeing *** little less rotation with this and we saw about an hour ago as it was moving out of Ware County into pierce county. This is more like just *** broad area of rotation with this nail. So tornado warning for about this *** little more than 10 minutes away before we see this expire. And now you see that severe thunderstorm warning has been extended all the way to the coast nail like I was saying that I would expect this may be extended into McIntosh County. That’s exactly what has happened in victoria. That *** severe thunderstorm warning for daring and Townsend Roxboro. This is including just south of Hinesville. How long does that go toward? The one just issued is until 2 15 for 60 mile per hour winds to 15 for 60 mile per hour winds. So also did include bryan Chatham Liberty long McIntosh with that warning. So it’s now pretty much just anywhere east of that squall line. Gotcha. So chief meteorologist Jeremy nelson also joined us. So we’ve got three team coverage of this severe weather that we are seeing in *** couple of counties and jeremy, you’re over there looking at some things as well. And I’m watching the radar, you kind of agree with this. It’s looking like probably about three counties for us. Maybe jessup, maybe long. Even Liberty County McIntosh County. Those are the last of the county’s probably before we see this clear off the coast and it’s really, we mentioned Chatham county is in the severe thunderstorm warning, but it’s just around on island. It’s just coastal areas of brian and Chatham County. And then the area you’ve been highlighting definitely greater concern is wayne county maybe that southeastern area of Long County McIntosh County because as you were pointing out that squall line, you get those just those little notches that show up and there has been *** little bit of rotation, but so far the bulk of it is just south of our viewing area outside of what prompted that tornado warning. Right. And we’re looking live right now. This is *** Liberty County right here, we’re seeing the other side and you can see the rain coming down very heavily. That’s what this area here is tracking up into that those spots. And also you see typically right at the edge of this right where you see it kind of bowling out right at the beginning of this. That’s potentially where you see some of the strongest of the winds is right in this area. So that’s why they issued *** severe thunderstorm warning that is now all too extended into parts of *** macintosh. Also, all of just about all the wayne county jessup south and this extends up into parts of brian and also Chatham County as well as like jeremy was just mentioning, it’s just for the barrier islands there where we have that severe thunderstorm warning for those folks there. So tornado warning is, it looks like they have taken that tornado warning down so that has been canceled. So the tornado warning has been canceled. So this area here definitely still producing winds gust over 40 and 50 MPH as it’s moving through parts of the Wayne County as we’re looking live. This is uh, highway 1 19 there in *** Liberty County, you can see the cars moving on definitely wet roadways out there and some of that heavy rain that is coming down earlier when we were watching some of our cameras around Blackshear and alma and even places like steaks bro, it was really bouncing around those cameras with winds gusting over 40 and 50 MPH. So there’s that line of rain that is rolling through did have *** wind gust in savannah at the airport just over 40 MPH as that leading band of rain that was rolling through and so there you go, severe thunderstorm warning for Wayne County. Also, we extend this out just *** little bit further and show you the spots that are under the severe thunderstorm warning further to the north zoom out just *** little bit if you would for me victorious as you can see they’re stretching from, this is including jessup also, Hinesville bryan County as well as under *** severe thunderstorm warning and right there at the coast, mainly the barrier islands there in Chatham County. This is *** severe thunderstorm warning. So they did cancel that tornado warning that was for Pierce County earlier and I’m not surprised they did that because we’re definitely seen less rotation with this than we saw just over the last 40 to 45 minutes. It was rolling out of Ware County and up into Pierce County more just like maybe *** broad area of rotation producing those winds gusts maybe over 50 MPH. So this continues moving to the north and do expect it’s probably will be weakened *** little bit, *** lot of areas to the north have already seen rain kind of allows things become *** little more stable, moving into some areas that receive rain throughout the late morning in the afternoon. So the counties were watching, there’s from Pierce County up in all these areas. I learned that severe thunderstorm warning. This is including McIntosh County, Liberty, Long County Hinesville, the Fort Stewart area and even up into parts of bryan County is under this severe thunderstorm warning says we are looking live there. You can see there in Liberty County that we’re tracking those storms. So one more time we’ll kind of show this how quickly they’re moving off the coast. We’ll time it out for you and then we’ll send you to program and you can see the spots that were wa watching here from *** dock junction to darian darian at 1 58 so right before two o’clock and then begin to move off the coast after two o’clock. So this area here kind of bowling out so producing winds gust as it heads up towards Wayne County and McIntosh County will be tracking it for you. W J C L dot com. Great place to track it out and we’ll keep you updated with this and there’s another tornado warning issued. We’ll come right back on and let everyone know. I’ll send you back to programming
