Wildfire prompts evacuations at Itasca State Park


PARK RAPIDS, MN — A wildfire forced evacuations Wednesday evening in Itasca State Park.

The fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. in a remote part of the park.

According to the DNR, it was about nine acres in size Wednesday night, and just 5% contained.

Crews were fighting the flames from the ground and air.

While no structures have burned and no injuries reported, park staff evacuated some cabins.

No word yet on a cause.
